MediaTek dethrones Qualcomm to become biggest Smartphone chipset vendor in Q3 2020

Smartphones’ importance in 2020 meant chipset giants like Qualcomm, MediaTek witnessed growth towards the second half of the year. Among this, the latter anticipates that it will ship 500 million 5G chipsets next year. Now, a Counterpoint report says that more than 100 million smartphones were sold in Q3 2020 with MediaTek getting the most share.

According to the report, MediaTek grabs 31% of the Global Smartphone chipset market share in Q3 2020. Although it didn’t top the 5G category, it overtakes Qualcomm by 2% and also clocks a 5% YoY growth. With this, it gets the crown of biggest chipset vendor for the first time.

Previously, a report on the Application Processor market revealed that MediaTek was trailing behind Qualcomm at a 26% share in Q2. That said, it has gained a lot of grounds on Smartphone chipsets. And it has reportedly happened due to the sale of $100-$250 phones in India and China.

Anyway, the rest of the share is occupied by giants like Samsung, Huawei’s HiSilicon, Apple, and UNISOC. Among this, Apple, HiSilicon, Samsung’s share sits at 12% each while UNISOC gets 4% of the market share. Also, if you notice closely, Huawei’s HiSilicon remains unchanged from 2019 despite showing a declining trend due to the US ban.

Coming back, the report says Qualcomm was the biggest 5G vendor for Q3. Although only 17% of the devices sold in Q3 were 5G, the company gets a resounding share of 39%. With Smartphone production reviving in Q3, and other equipment sales jumping by 30%, companies have managed to outsell themselves compared to previous quarters.

Research Director Dale Gai says MediaTek has raised the bars with its mid-range chipsets and has managed to power 3x more Xiaomi phones compared to 2019. This, along with good performance in LATAM(Latin America) and MEA(Middle East, Africa), leveraging the ban on Huawei meant it’s progress steered faster.

Just like Research Analyst Ankit Malhotra says, MediaTek also managed to power the World’s cheapest 5G-smartphone realme V3, and Europe’s cheapest 5G-device realme 7 5G. However, it still has a lot of ground to capture in the area where its rival Qualcomm has been dominating. Despite the pressure from Apple’s 5G iPhone 12 series and MediaTek, Report says Qualcomm has the potential to get back in Q4.

"We have accepted the recommendations of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and the West Bengal Council of Higher Education Education on holding the exams on later dates in view of the pandemic situation," Chatterjee said.

"If the situation changes, the board and council will take decisions accordingly," he added.

"Keeping the current situation in mind, it has been decided that the board exams for classes 10 and 12 will not be conducted till February 2021. A decision on the exam schedule will be taken later after assessment of situation and more consultations," Pokhriyal had earlier said during an online interaction with teachers.

CBSE's view

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has not released the dates of the practical or theory exams yet but has confirmed that the theory exams will be conducted in the written mode this year, despite the pandemic.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, schools across the country were closed in March and resumed on October 15. In fact, the board exams were postponed mid-way in March and students were passed on the basis of an alternative assessment scheme.

 प्रत्येक कार्य जो समय पर पूरा करने से ही सफलता प्राप्त होती है कार्य को ना करने के स्थान पर थोड़ा-थोड़ा करते रहना भी अच्छा है कार्य को समय अनुकूल करने पर जीवन में सफलता प्राप्त होती है अन्यथा समाज में निंदा का  भाव बनना पड़ता है इसलिए मनुष्य जीवन में जो समय हमें प्राप्त हुआ है उसका उपयोग सावधानीपूर्वक करना चाहिए बिना सोच-विचार भी कार्य नहीं करना चाहिए कार्य करने से पूर्व दूसरा की सहमति और अनुभव का भी आदर करना चाहिए 

कार्य का अच्छा या बुरा फल समय के सदुपयोग पर ही निर्भर करता है चाहे धनी हो या निर्धन राजा हो या रंक व्यक्ति के महत्व को पहचानना कर कार्य नहीं करना उसे बाद में पछताना पड़ता है समय पर रुक जाने से बड़े-बड़े शंभूराजे भी नष्ट हो जाते हैं समय पर परीक्षा भवन ना पहुंचने पर प्रश्न पत्र अधूरा रह जाता है समय पर दिए गए वचन को पूरा न करने पर समाज में निंदा होती है मनुष्य को अलग से छोड़कर समय के महत्व को पहचानना चाहिए समय का अपव्यय करना आत्महत्या के समान है

Exynos 2100 new benchmarks show multi-core lead over SD888

 According to the early reports, Samsung might finally be bringing some serious competition to the flagship SoC market potentially outperforming Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888, which is also still unreleased. The new batch of Geekbench results are in line with this theory.

We will see the Exynos 2100 powering up the still unannounced Galaxy S21-series in most markets while the chipset itself is going to be unveiled on January 12. Unfortunately, we don't have the actual Geekbench results to show but we can definitely take Ice Universe's word for it. And according to him, the CPU peaks at 1,108 points on single-core performance and 3,963 points on multi-threaded workload.

That's quite the jump from the previous Geekbench listing where the chipset reached 1,006 and 3,059 points, respectively. The Snapdragon 888, on the other hand, should be able to reach 1,135 and 3,794 points according to Qualcomm's official data.
